Svalbard – Under the Midnight Sun

Experience the wonders of the Arctic together with us. Massive glacial fronts and historic Russian mining settlements. Breeding birds, reindeer and seals in their natural habitat – and, with a bit of luck, even a polar bear, the king of the Arctic. Around the Isfjord we go out and about by boat, kayak, on foot and with dog sleds on wheels.

Upon arrival at the airport, your guide will welcome you and accompany you to your accommodation in Longyearbyen. On the very first day, you will get to know the diversity of the northernmost town in the world on a detailed guided tour of the city. Feel the special atmosphere of the place and discover the treasures of the museum. In the evening we meet for dinner and discuss the program for the next few days. Overnight stay in the guesthouse in Longyearbyen.

Today, a cruise to a Russian mining settlement is on the agenda. The Isfjord continues past impressive rocky cliffs with thousands of breeding birds and huge glacial fronts. Once – at Soviet Union heyday - more than 1000 people lived here. Today, not much of that heyday remains. We welcome a Russian guide who tells about life at the time and today, as well as the history and cultural highlights of the old mining settlement. After the tour, we move into our accommodation and then set off on a leisurely exploration tour. In the evening, a typical local dinner is served. Overnight stay in the guesthouse.

The next morning, a hiking tour is on the agenda. Off the beaten track, we explore the wonderful nature of Spitzbergen. After an al fresco lunch, we come back to the settlement and the same afternoon by ship back to Longyearbyen. Overnight stay in the guesthouse.

Today we will spend with huskies. We get to know the four-legged friends, are allowed to feed them, pet them and help with the stopover. With a summer version of the well-known dog sleds on wheels we go out to Endalen. We drive on gravel roads through the Arctic tundra, enjoy the very special mood of being driven through nature by the dogs and encounter a variety of animals.

As an alternative program for guests who rather not spend more time with our four-legged friends, we offer a motorized tour with the ATV (All Terrain Vehicles) to the old mines in the area around Longyearbyen (driver's license is mandatory). .

Dinner and overnight stay at the guest house in Longyearbyen.

The surrounding area of Longyearbyen offers a variety of fantastic peaks and routes for hiking that meet all requirements. We will walk across a glacier, most likely find many million-year-old fossils and enjoy a lunch in nature with magnificent views. Back in Longyearbyen, we wrap up the day and week with a dinner together. Overnight stay in the guesthouse.

After a relaxed breakfast, there is still some time left in town for individual use. Then it's time to say goodbye. An airport shuttle will take you on your scheduled flight and on your way back home.
