Sightseeing and Trekking

Longyearbyen sightseeing and trekking/snowshoe tour combined!

Tour plan

The tour consists of a sightseeing in Longyearbyen and the surrounding area and a hike on Breinosa. Lunch, coffee and biscuits are included.

A lot of information about the history, geology, fauna, flora, climate and the present life on Spitsbergen. We stop at the Arctic Noah's Ark, the Global Seed Vault, where seeds from all the world's crops are safely stored in a tunnel in the permafrost. From there you have the best view of Longyearbyen Airport - one of the most spectacular airports in Europe. We drive up into Advent Valley to Longyearbyen's only coal mine and EISCAT research radar.

Trekking tour:

We start our tour from the EISCAT Radar (450 m) to the high plateau of Breinosa at 650 meters above the fjord. Despite the simplicity of the tour, there are magical moments like the view of the Foxfonna glacier or the unforgettable view of Adventdalen with its mountain peaks. Once we arrive at the top, we have a lunch break and let everything work its magic on us before we slowly start the way back to Longyearbyen.
