Experience Pyramiden and the nature of Spitsbergen actively. Experience the wonders of the Arctic with us. Enormous glacier fronts and historic Russian mining settlements. Breeding birds, reindeer and seals in their natural habitat - and with a bit of luck even a polar bear, the king of the Arctic. Around the Isfjord we are out and about by boat, kayak and on foot. Start your personal adventure here!
We will pick you up at Longyearbyen airport and take you to your accommodation, the cosy Polar Bear Lodge in the centre of Longyearbyen. Depending on your arrival time, we will go on a guided tour of Longyearbyen on the same day, visit the museum and get to know the northernmost small town and its surroundings. Overnight at the Polar Bear Lodge.
Early in the morning, we take the boat towards Pyramiden. On the way, we pass bird colonies and glacier fronts. After lunch on board we arrive in Pyramiden and explore the Russian ghost town. Overnight at the legendary hotel in Pyramiden.
The kayaks start in the morning. We cross the Petuniabay and find out way to the beach in the early afternoon in theAdolfsbucht near the Nordenskiöldglacier, where we pitch our tents for the night. Before dinner, there is time for a short paddle tour to the glacier. Dinner and overnight in tent camp. Each guest helps with the bear guard.
The next morning we start again with the kayaks and all our luggage. We paddle along the glacier and, depending on the weather condition,s we will return to Pyramiden in the afternoon at the latest. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel in Pyramiden.
On foot, today begins westwards. In the beginning we walk on the old road through the Mimervalley up to Blue Lake. At the foot of the Jotunfonna ice cap we set up camp. In the afternoon we hike with light luggage on the heights of the glacier. There, we enjoy the breathtaking view over the whole north of the Isfjord and the Dicksonland (daily distance approx. 15 kilometers). Dinner and overnight stay in a tent camp. All guests take part in the bear guard.
Early in the morning we dismantle the camp and walk another 15 kilometres through Tordalen and Peerdalen to Skan Bay. Here we will be picked up by the boat in the afternoon and we will return to Longyearbyen.
Today a 6-7 hour hike to the beautiful Trollstein peak (849m) with a magnificent view of the surroundings of Longyearbyen and the Nordenskiöldland awaits us. On our way we will pass through the moraine of the Lars glacier and later (if conditions allow) we will also cross the ice of the glacier itself. Overnight at Polar Bear Lodge.
